Hours and ratings are what Google showed on 10 September 2026. Where a venue publishes nothing, the table says so.

That total lines up with the official one. The gaming directorate's own state breakdown gives Quintana Roo 14, against 396 casinos open nationwide. What the state does not publish is which fourteen: its establishments page has been a placeholder for months, so no page anywhere — this one included — can prove a specific room's permit is current.

Cancun: six rooms, four of them in a mall

The city's rooms split cleanly. Two stand-alone buildings on Avenida Tulum downtown — Jubilee, the only 24-hour room in the state's biggest city, and Palace Bingo & Sport Bets, which puts called bingo, a sportsbook and a poker room under one roof. One inside the Hotel Zone: Casino Macao, on the second floor of the La Isla mall at kilometre 12.5, and the only gaming floor on the beach strip.

Three more are local rooms rather than tourist ones. Codere Paseo and Broadway sit 220 yards apart on Avenida Andrés Quintana Roo, in two neighbouring west-side malls where hotels effectively stop. Casino By Yak reopened on the second floor of Plaza Las Américas in February 2026 after a rebuild — press releases mention up to 180 machines, two sports areas and paper bingo, which three separate reviews call the only paper bingo left in the city. Playa del Carmen: three rooms, and the one within walking distance of the pier

Riviera Grand Casino is the table-game room of the state. In its reviews, tables, blackjack and roulette outweigh slot machines — the only venue in Quintana Roo where that is true — and it runs a Texas hold'em cash table when there are players for it. It is on 10th Avenue North at Calle 10, two minutes from Quinta Avenida and 0.94 km (0.58 mi) from the ferry pier, a 12 to 15 minute walk. Two caveats: reviewers call it small and smoky, and it has no website of its own — the link on its Google listing is a Facebook page, so hours are worth re-checking.

Winpot, inside the Plaza Las Américas mall, is the biggest room on the Riviera by reviews: 1,452 of them, slots, several bingo draws through the evening, a poker room, roulette and a sportsbook with sofas. Two things visitors report: the entry check is the strictest in the state — one reviewer says registration took over an hour — and the restaurant takes cash only.

Jackpot Casino, a Codere room out on the federal highway at the southern edge of town, is the weakest of the three: old machines, blackjack and roulette tables that reviewers say sit closed, and no published hours. Queen Casino in Playacar is a fourth name you will see: its listing has been marked temporarily closed and unclaimed since at least August 2026, so we do not count it as open.

Chetumal: three rooms, 237 miles away

The state capital sits on the Belize border, 381 km (237 mi) from Cancun — six hours and twenty minutes to six hours forty by bus. This is a different trip, not an evening out. Casino Yak on Avenida Insurgentes is the busiest of the three at 3.8 on 301 reviews, with slots, a sportsbook and an ATM inside; a former dealer's review describes live blackjack, roulette and poker in earlier years. The Golden Lion on the bayfront carries the best rating in the state, 4.4, on twenty reviews, runs 24 hours and is the only room here that also files itself under «restaurant». Casino Mayan Gold, in the Capital Center mall, appears in no directory at all — Google knows of it only through the mall that houses it.

The two resort rooms, and what makes them different

Casino Bahía at Akumal is the only casino on the Riviera Maya, and it is inside the Grand Bahía Príncipe complex rather than on a street. It opens at 6 p.m., the single evening-only schedule in the state, and access follows the resort's rules. It also has the most precisely documented table in the register: reviewers give blackjack as a 5-dollar minimum and 250-dollar maximum, 3:2, eight decks, dealer stands on soft 17, double after split allowed, no surrender and no hole card. Drinks are free while you play. Two recurring complaints: a poker table that never opens, and a 7 per cent charge that four reviewers report and disagree about — some say it is taken when you load the card, others when you cash out.

Casino del Mar opened in December 2025 inside the Royalton Riviera Cancun, in Puerto Morelos. Slots, seven-person roulette tables and European-style blackjack, 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., and in the operator's own words it «operates at an additional charge — it is not included in the all-inclusive rate». It is too new to have a Google rating.

Where there is no casino at all

This is the half of the state that surprises visitors, so it is worth saying flatly. Cozumel has no working casino. A permit under the name «Casino Cozumel» does appear in the October 2025 federal list, but the Jackpot Cozumel listing at that address is marked permanently closed and every source we checked says the island has nothing operating. Tulum, Isla Mujeres, Bacalar, Holbox and Puerto Aventuras have none either — no listing, no permit line, nothing.

For a cruise passenger that combination matters twice over, because a ship's own casino is required to close while the ship is in port. The one realistic option from Cozumel is the ferry to Playa del Carmen — a tourist-fare ticket is 320 pesos each way, 640 return, the crossing is put at 30 to 45 minutes by secondary sources, and Riviera Grand is a 12-minute walk from the pier. Cancun is not an option: it is 61 to 65 km (38 to 40 mi) from that pier, each way, on a day with a fixed sailing time.

How far apart they are

The practical reading: from Cancun, your six rooms sit within about 10 km (6 mi) of each other, Playa del Carmen is a day trip, and everything else is a separate journey.
