Riviera Grand Casino: the busiest brand search in the state, with no website

Riviera Grand Casino opens 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. every day at 10 Avenida Nte 105, two minutes off Fifth Avenue in Playa del Carmen, and holds 3.9 out of 5 from 901 Google reviews, checked on 10 September 2026. Google files it in English as Grand Riviera Casino and in Spanish as Riviera Grand — same room, word order flipped. It is the most searched casino name in Quintana Roo and the only room of that size with no website: everything it publishes fits on two social accounts.

Why every search result is a map or a social account

Because the business publishes nothing else. The "website" button on its Google listing leads to a Facebook page, and the description the owner wrote is one line long. With no page of its own, the search engine fills the first ten results with Instagram, TripAdvisor, directories and map services.

Two of those results are the engine's own mistakes: a Facebook page called "Riviera Casino Oficial" registered in Guadalupe, Nuevo León, and grandrivercasino.com, a casino in South Dakota that Google mixes in because "river" looks like "riviera". Neither is this room.

Google groups near-variants into one bucket, so those figures do not simply add up, and part of the "grand riviera" traffic is people after the Grand Riviera Princess hotel. Even read low, it is the largest brand demand in the state outside Cancun.

Where it is and what it looks like from the street

The address is 10 Avenida Nte 105, colonia Gonzalo Guerrero, 77720, at the corner of Calle 10 Norte, facing a park, two minutes from Fifth Avenue. Older records place it 300 metres north-east: if your map drops you on a corner with no door, look for number 105.

The entrance is discreet — one visitor describes "only a covered door to enter", with no marquee — and there is a metal detector. The casino has no parking of its own: a five-star review from March 2026 says you park on the street at a meter, which contradicts the parking attribute on the listing.

940 metres from the Cozumel ferry pier

This is the fact that decides a day ashore for thousands of people and almost nobody publishes it. The Playa del Carmen ferry terminal, where the Cozumel boats dock, is at Calle 1 Sur and Fifth Avenue, and from that pier to the door is 0.94 km (0.6 miles) in a straight line: twelve to fifteen minutes on foot.

Cozumel handled 4 732 250 cruise passengers in 2025, and there is no casino operating on the island. On top of that, a rule that surprises people: the ship's own casino shuts while the ship is in port, because it may only operate in international waters. Cozumel day is exactly the day you cannot play on board.

The crossing takes 35 to 45 minutes, roughly every half hour, and Ultramar's tourist fare is 320 pesos one way, 640 return. Ultramar asks you to arrive 30 minutes early.

What the 901 reviews say: this is a table room

The rating is 3.9 from 901 reviews: 427 five-star, 162 four-star, 119 three-star, 64 two-star, 91 one-star. Open the topics Google groups by frequency and the character of the place is obvious. In English: small casino 36 mentions, roulette 31, blackjack 28, smoking 18, table games 10. In Spanish, tables 57 and machines 42.

That makes it the only room in Quintana Roo where table topics outweigh the machines. If you came to play at a table, this is the address; if you came for a big slot floor, it is not.

It is like a room with approximately 20 to 30 machines.

Two-star Google review, 11 March 2026

Smoking is the second sharpest topic: you can smoke inside, and reviews agree the smoking room exists but nobody uses it. Against that, something rare in this state, confirmed by two independent reviews: complimentary coffee, soft drinks and water while you play, plus a cocktail bar. No restaurant — for food you step out onto Fifth Avenue.

What is on the floor

On bingo, be clear, because it circulates: a regional magazine mentions it here, but the topic never appears in the 901 reviews and the venue does not advertise it. Not confirmed. The listing does record contactless, credit and debit payment, and the phone +52 984 803 2703.

At the door, and what you can pay with

You pass a metal detector, then register for a house card — visitors call it "the red card" — and they ask for ID to issue it. The venue publishes no minimum age, but the federal regulation bars minors from betting areas and the age of majority in Mexico is 18; the 21 in some travel guides is not the law. See ID and age.

You play in pesos: article 10 of the federal gaming regulation requires bets in national currency, which catches out cruise passengers used to paying dollars on Fifth Avenue. Change money first, or use a card. There is no credit either — article 11 bars the house from lending to a player.

On tax, the state charges 10 per cent on what you load onto the card, not on what you win; the federal tax on a prize is 1 per cent, withheld by the house. The 21 per cent that circulates belongs to states that tax the prize itself, and this is not one: taxes on winnings.

Who runs it, and what a physical room cannot give you

Riviera Grand Casino is independent: it belongs to none of the four chains that share out the rest of the state, and its permit holder and permit number are published nowhere. Playa del Carmen has four casino listings and three working rooms — from here to Winpot is 2.3 km, and you do not walk it.

One last, practical difference: there is no way to watch how a game behaves before you put money down. To make a reel spin you load the house card, and the state takes its 10 per cent on that load. Licensed online catalogues do open in free mode — the one we verified among operators with a room in this state is Strendus, of the same group as the Jubilee in Cancun. A live dealer twelve minutes from the ferry, though, has no digital substitute: playing online from Cancun.

Frequently asked questions

Are Grand Riviera Casino and Riviera Grand Casino the same place?

Yes — one venue at 10 Avenida Nte 105. Google uses "Riviera Grand Casino" in Spanish and "Grand Riviera Casino" in English. Watch for two namesakes in the results: a Facebook page registered in Guadalupe, Nuevo León, and grandrivercasino.com, in South Dakota.

What are the opening hours?

10 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily, per the listing checked on 10 September 2026. When the Google panel says "Closed" it means the hour you are checking, not a permanent closure. For a late visit, confirm on +52 984 803 2703.

How far is it from the Cozumel ferry pier?

940 metres in a straight line from the ferry terminal — twelve to fifteen minutes on foot up Fifth Avenue. It is the only room in the state a cruise passenger reaches without a taxi.
