From Cancun airport to the nearest casino

So the useful question is not which casino but what time you land. The bus into town stops in the late evening, the taxi runs all night from the most expensive zone in a system with no meters, and the six rooms close at six different hours. ADO: the cheap way in, and where it leaves you

ADO is the intercity coach company, and it has counters in all four terminals with boarding right outside the arrivals doors at T2, T3 and T4. The bus to Cancún Centro takes about 45 minutes and runs every 20 to 45 minutes depending on which source you believe.

• The fare is genuinely unclear. One source gives 110 to 130 pesos, about $7 to $8. Another gives roughly $18, which is around 300 pesos. That is a two-and-a-half-fold gap between two published figures for the same ticket, and we are not going to average them into a false number — buy at the counter and see.
• It ends at a bus station, not at your hotel. ADO Terminal Centro is on Avenida Uxmal downtown. From there it is 1.46 km (0.9 mi) to Palace Bingo and 2.47 km (1.5 mi) to Jubilee — a short taxi ride, or a walk in daylight.
• It does not run all night. Two travel sources put the airport service at roughly 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. If your flight lands later, this option does not exist.
• To Playa del Carmen instead: 208 to 230 pesos, about $12 to $14, one to one and a half hours — and that town has the biggest room on the Riviera.

Taxi: the most expensive zone in a system with no meters

Cancun taxis charge by zone, and the airport zone is the dearest of the 53. The published order of magnitude for an airport run to a Hotel Zone hotel, one to four passengers, is from 800 pesos — about $47. A separate account of the same corridor puts the official range at 100 to 400 pesos while noting that some drivers ask up to 100 dollars, and in January 2025 a public complaint over a 10,000-peso fare made the national press. The state tourism secretariat has announced a plan against excessive fares, driver mistreatment and blockades.

Uber and DiDi at the terminals

Ride platforms are legal in Quintana Roo — legalised by a 2023 reform of the state mobility law and confirmed by a 2024 federal court ruling in Cancun. At the airport, though, drivers effectively do not accept pickups from the terminals under pressure from the taxi union; what does arrive is «Uber Taxi», meaning a certified airport cab at the regulated price. The Tren Maya station is at the airport, not in the city

This surprises people, so it is worth stating flatly: the Cancún Aeropuerto station stands on airport land, 0.94 km (0.6 mi) from Terminal 3, and the city of Cancun has no station at all. A free electric shuttle called SET links the four terminals to the station in 8 to 15 minutes. The train is therefore a way to leave the airport for the Riviera — Playa del Carmen in about 49 minutes for 60 to 130 pesos — and not a way to move around Cancun. Going the other way, from a city hotel, you would first have to travel out to the airport. One last point about arriving hungry for a first night out. The airport is 13 km from the nearest room, and every option above adds cost, time or both on top of a flight. What waits at the end is a physical gaming floor where you load cash onto a house card at the cage: a Cancun floor has no demo mode at all, so there is no way to see how a machine pays first.
